JCS Pine Hills Academy (7-12)
The JCS Pine Hills Academy is a small program for 7th – 12th grade students with credentialed, highly qualified teachers. Our focus is on personalization, student well-being, parent involvement and a unique schedule format that teaches self discipline, organization and time management. During the week, students benefit from classroom instruction for three days and participate in home study for two days. During the home study days, our students work independently by utilizing our online platform, Canvas, and communicate with their teachers via email and/or optional online meetings and check-ins. Our academy is proud to be growing into a Leader in Me School. Leader in Me is a whole-school improvement process based on the idea that everyone can be a leader. This approach empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is one of the key frameworks of the Leader in Me process which gives us a common language in building a supportive emotional environment. We want every student to lead their lives with confidence, purpose and integrity. For our high school students, we support their college and career goals by providing them with academic guidance along with rigorous college preparatory (a-g) courses and a variety of electives. Students also have the opportunity to participate in theater, leadership, community college classes, social activities and more. We take pride in promoting a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for all students.

Testimonials
JCS Pine Hills Academy has been the perfect education solution for both my daughters. One daughter graduated, went on to a 4-year university, and now is in grad school. So the rigor, and hybrid home/classroom program well prepared her for the university track. My other daughter is a Senior this year, and has also thrived in this environment. Her post-high school plan is going to a local community college. Having learned how to self-manage her time and studies, I expect her to adapt well to college life too. The staff is always available to provide extra help, and it's a safe, warm, and friendly environment. Two thumbs up from this mom & dad!
JCS is a wonderful and secure place for our kids to learn and grow. We had found that there is a closeness to the school with caring teachers and staff. Speaking of teachers and staff -they are always available by email or by phone. They all truly put the kids’ interest first. I wish I had a place like JCS when I was in my school years. This is a great opportunity for kids and families.
I have kids that have attended JCS for Middle and High School. We were drawn to JCS because of the low teacher to student ratio along with a flexible schedule that offered independent learning as well as classroom instruction. In our opinion, the educational environment offers the best track to prepare our kids for college. The independent learning gives kids an opportunity to grow in accountability and be prepared for the higher level of education while still having access to a faculty that is available, committed and interested in their students. We're grateful for the education that our kids have received at JCS.
The JCS Pine Hills staff is a tight-knit, small group of teachers, whom your student will have for multiple classes, over several years. This consistency in teachers allows your student to be known - truly known, by the teachers and staff. And the teachers use this in-depth knowledge of your student to motivate, challenge, and support your student in ways that work best for your child rather than taking a one-size fits all approach.
I love JCS High School Academy because of the personal attention my child gets from the teachers. They offer a lot of tutoring and helpful meetings for students who are struggling or have questions. I love that my child gets to work from home two days a week, but still gets to socialize the other three days.
JCS Pine Hills Academy has given us a level of flexibility that we could never get in a standard public school. We are involved personally in our student's education but still get all the support and social activities on campus. Additionally, the school's response to the COVID-19 closures has been quick, thorough and allowed education to continue without any interruption. While other schools scrambled and lost weeks of instruction time, JCSPHA seamlessly transferred to home based study while still allowing connections with teachers and other students. It's obvious they care about the kids!
What I love about JCS PHA high school is that the school is small but they have all the events that the kids would get at a larger high school like dances, theater and yearbook. I do not feel that my daughter has missed out on any high school experiences by attending a smaller school. My daughter left an expensive private school and I feel that JCS Pine Hills Academy not only was a better fit, but I was shocked you could receive a small school education for free through the public schools.
My daughter has been a student with JCS for the past 7 years. JCS has been the perfect fit. We love the small atmosphere and caring environment. Students are challenged with high expectations and are fully supported in their education. Our family enjoys the blend of on campus classes as well as at home independent study days. We highly recommend JCS.
Quick teacher response & small classes allow for a more intimate high school experience. Teachers are of the highest quality in knowledge presentation & differentiated instructional practices. Best decision we made for high school for our child.
The teachers are very caring to the students. When my daughter started at JCS it was her senior year and she knew no one. The teachers made her feel very welcomed in the new school. She would not stop talking about it for months to how different and welcoming the teachers are compared to a standard public high school.
